Trade Commission's website is a one-stop national resource to learn about the crime of identity theft. It provides detailed information to help you deter, detect, and defend against identity theft.
On this site, consumers can learn how to avoid identity theft – and learn what to do if their identity is stolen. Businesses can learn how to help their customers deal with identity theft, as well as how to prevent problems in the first place. Law enforcement can get resources and learn how to help victims of identity theft.
Identity Theft Assistance Center (ITAC). ITAC, the Identity Theft Assistance Center, is a nonprofit coalition of financial services companies that display the ITAC logo to demonstrate their commitment to protecting customers from identity theft. ITAC’s victim assistance service – which has helped more than 65,000 consumers recover from identity theft – is available at no cost to the millions of consumers who have an account at an ITAC member company. Through its partner Intersections Inc., ITAC offers the ITAC Sentinel® identity management service.
Identity Theft Resource Centre (ITRC).
Identity Theft Resource Center® (ITRC) is a nonprofit, nationally respected organization dedicated exclusively to the understanding and prevention of identity theft. The ITRC provides victim and consumer support as well as public education. The ITRC also advises governmental agencies, legislators, law enforcement, and businesses about the evolving and growing problem of identity theft.

The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) is a private, nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to be the nation’s leader in helping people keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe from crime. NCPC manages public service advertising under the National Citizens’ Crime Prevention Campaign—symbolized by McGruff the Crime Dog® and his “Take A Bite Out Of Crime®” slogan—and acts as secretariat for the Crime Prevention Coalition of America, more than 300 national, federal, state, and local organizations representing thousands of constituents who are committed to preventing crime.
